You drop a quarter into a jukebox and make your selection. The machine keep's track of which song play's and how many time's it was played. That quarter get's split between several branch's.

   The songwriter, the singer, the musician's, the studio the label, the club owner, the jukebox owner, the jukebox maintainance person, BMI, Ascap or sesac and I dont know how many other's.

   I knew a writer that penned a song that was on a very successful album but this song was not released as a single. Even without being a single the writer's first check from royaltie's approached $200,000.00. He was angry that it was not released as a single. It amaze's me that a man can take a 5 cent pencil and a 1 cent sheet of paper and turn that into a million dollar's

   I worked with another artist who had a song that was a weak hit. The song went to about # 180 on Billboard. Even though the song did not chart very high, I watched this man sale $20,000.00 of merchandise at every show we did..
